In the mid-1800s, the Texas Rangers developed the Ranger Belt, designed to carry a large, heavy sidearm, such as the Colt Walker six-shooter, which required a wide holster belt. By creating a belt with a wide body and narrower, more flexible billet straps at the front, the holster and firearm were properly supported while making the fastening of the belt easier.

The wider belt beneath the billets allowed the belt to be tightened without pinching, thanks to the protective underlayer, similar to the cinch straps on Western saddles. This innovation gave rise to the distinctive Ranger belt style, featuring a wider cinch strap and two narrower billet straps sewn onto it. Over time, this gun belt became an essential part of the unofficial uniform of Texas Rangers, and later lawmen, outlaws, and other gunslingers throughout the Old West—eventually becoming iconic in Hollywood Westerns.

Our four-piece Ranger belt stays true to its heritage, featuring a straight 1 ¼ inch strap width from end to end. The four-piece buckle set (comprising one buckle, two keepers, and one tip) is inspired by vintage Ranger buckles from Santa Fe, New Mexico. We've reimagined this classic design with an elongated tip and rounded keepers, giving it a modern flair while retaining its timeless appeal.

Special features:

  • Width: 1 ¼ inch
  • 4-piece ranger buckle configuration
  • Inter-changeable buckle mechanism (three snap buttons to allow easy change, one to attach the buckle and one each for the two keepers)
  • The belt tip locked in place through a small whole and a peg in the tip
  • Elongated tip length
