The Sneum RRR Rider jacket is the fruit of the partnership with Cone Denim Mills, Greensboro, N.C., one of the most renowned denim mills in the world. Founded in 1891 and a pioneer an early denim innovation, they constitute the backbone of American denim culture and heritage making it more than just a fabric. Over 120 years of knowhow and history is woven into every warp and weft. Building on the classic rider jackets of the early 30s, specifically developed with cowboys and rodeo riders in mind, our emphasis has been to accentuate the key distinguishing factors of the jacket while at the same time staying true to its original design and heritage. RRR 27″ Selvedge bandana

The SNEUM RRR 27” selvedge bandana combines traditional bandana paisley with 70s cowboy iconography. Like most traditional 1940s-1970s bandanas, the RRR version features three sides machine-hemmed and one side using the fabric selvedge. The print is made on an all-cotton plain weave selvedge fabric base, using colorfast indigo dye. A discharge printing technique guarantees that both sides display the graphic with equal sharpness and vibrance. For that extra cowboy feel we opted for a slightly larger square size than the average of 27 x 27 inches to provide more material for crafting
    • Discharge printed for equal graphic sharpness on both sides
    • Fabric selvedge featured on one side, with other three edges finished with narrow stitched hem
    • Slightly above average dimensions of 27” x 27” to provide extra crafting material
    • Colorfast indigo dyed
    • Milled and printed in India, the birthplace of the bandana
    • Small batch production

    Concho Leather Belt

The Sneum RRR Concho Leather Belt is inspired by those worn and made by Navajo Native Americans of the Southwest. Our version is based on what would be classified as a Phase III belt  from around the 1930s and features five large oval conchos and four large butterfly conchos with combination of repoussé and stamping. The large main buckle has been given the iconic embossed leaf-shapes that are further emphasized by covering their surfaces with stamped impressions. Both the conchos and main buckle are silver-plated, custom stamped, that will develop a natural patina with age. Likewise they are removable and can be made in to a “regular” belt according to preferences. Hand made in England, the belt strap has been vegetable-tanned and been given a unique treatment to obtain an aged look which is an intentional feature of the belt and no two straps are completely alike. In addition the strap fastens around the buckle using leather string just like the old original concho belt straps.
    • Belt strap width is 21mm
    • Oval conchos measurements are:  W: 71,5mm x H: 60mm
    • Butterfly conchos measurements are: W: 32,8mm x H: 60mm
    • Buckle measurements are: W: 97,4mm x H: 75mm

The range of shirts have all been done with the scope to enhance all quintessential design elements of the western shirt such as the signature pointed yokes on the front and on the back, longer tails, duel chest pockets with pointed flaps, pearl-snap closures down the front placket, and at the pearl-snapped cuffs.

All such design elements were conceived for a utilitarian purpose. A lonesome rider out on the range wouldn’t have to worry about carrying needle and thread to replace a button; the flaps on his pockets kept his tobacco tin from bouncing out while he rode; the yokes, with their double fold, made his shirt durable; the tighter fit prevented his shirt from getting caught on saddle horns and barbed wire; and the extra-long tails stayed tucked into jeans.

"done with the scope to enhance all quintessential design elements of the western shirt"
"Western shirt pockets are like the grill on a car: they define the western shirt as much as any other element, or more"

Steve Weil, Rockmount Ranch Wear Mfg., “Western Shirt:  A Classic American Fashion

Named after the iconic “smile” shape pockets, the western dress shirt is often abundantly decorated with contrasting piping and embroideries . Derived from the elaborate Mexican vaquero costumes like the guayabera and the battle shirts worn by many Confederate soldiers, these were worn at rodeos so the cowboy could be easily identifiable.

Why we use Scovill® Gripper®

The Sneum range of western shirts are all made using original Scovill® Gripper® snap buttons.

Founded more than 200 years ago in Waterbury, Connecticut. USA, Scovill® is a pioneer within snap buttons and accredited for being the first to apply snap buttons to western shirts back the mid 1940s in collaboration with Rockmount Ranch Wear Mfg. Co. Their groundbreaking methods has made them into an industry icon synonymous with highest quality, durability and style.

For more than half a century Scovill® has supplied most of the industry legends, such as Rockmount Ranch Wear Mfg. Co., Levis, Wrangler, Lee, etc. with snap buttons, thus making them more than just a snap button but a piece of history.

For this reason we have likewise chosen to use Scovill® snap buttons in our western shirt range.

Much of the above text is based on the book by Steve Weil of Rockmount Ranch Wear Mfg., “Western Shirt:  A Classic American Fashion”. We consider this to be the most exhaustive work done on the Western shirt and its history. We highly encourage readers to check out this book should they wish to explore the subject in greater detail.

On TENCEL™

We chose to introduce TENCEL™ in our range of western shirts for two main reasons:

Firstly, TENCEL™ shares many of the same characteristics as Rayon which were one of the most common fabrics used for the original vintage western shirts of the 40s and 50s. Both fabrics are characterized by a flattering drape and fluidity which gives it its uniqueness vis-à-vis other fabrics.

Tencel logo

Secondly TENCEL™ is one of the most environmentally friendly fabrics on the market. It is made from cellulose in wood pulp, which is harvested from tree-farmed eucalyptus trees. Cellulose is the natural polymer that makes up the living cells of all vegetation. The tree farms have been established on land unsuitable for food crops or grazing—no old growth forests, genetic manipulation, irrigation, or pesticides are used.

The fiber is produced via an advanced ‘closed loop’ solvent spinning process, with minimal impact on the environment and economical use of energy and water. The solvent used in the process is toxic but 99% is recovered and continually recycled. The process received the European Award for the Environment from the EU.

Key properties:

  • Comfortable: Similar to rayon in feel, Tencel is soft, breathable, lightweight and comfortable.
  • Lasting: Shrink-resistant, durable and easy to care for, Tencel is an exceptionally strong fiber, both wet and dry.
  • Color Rich: Tencel was created with color in mind, because of the fibers’ high absorbency. The fabrics can be dyed to high quality standards.
  • Easy to Maintain: Tencel garments are easy to pack, resist wrinkling and dry quickly. Most are machine washable, although different garment constructions may have specific cleaning requirements.
  • Natural: Tencel is made from the natural cellulose found in wood pulp. The fiber is economical in its use of energy and natural resources, and is fully biodegradable
