The Jungle Jacket was part of the tropical combat uniform program and the primary US Army uniform in Vietnam after 1963. It was modified three times over the course of the war but retained the very characteristic two slanted, chest bellow pockets and two lower hip bellow pockets. The reason being for the slant pocket design was to facilitate pocket access especially during combat situations.
The tropical combat uniform was based on a “bush style” design pattern after the M1942 parachutist jacket of World War II and represented a compromise between several competing requirements.
Our version of the jungle jacket jungle jacket sets out to accentuate the key distinguishing factors of the jacket while at the same time staying true to its original design and heritage;
- Extra slant angle of chest pockets
- Accentuated shape of pocket flaps
- Reinforced pocket flaps to render them stiffer and make them stand out more
- Increased size of hip pockets
- Action/bi-swing back to improve mobility
- Center back vent for increased ease of movement during combat situations or while performing martial arts
- Buttoned waist adjustment tabs
- Cuffed sleeves
- half-lined with piped seams throughout gives it a sartorial feel
- 9oz 100% soft cotton twill shell fabric
- Original color OG-107 available (Olive Green shade 107 on HEX scale)
