The trucker cap came about in it’s true form in the early 1970’s as a promotional give-away from U.S. feed or farming supply companies to farmers, truck drivers, or other rural workers.
The wide front panel made it an ideal platform for emblazoned company logos and at the same time functional, practical and cheap. It soon became part of the ‘uniform’ of rural workers all over the States. The combination of the stiff, long peak with the comfortable foam front and the breathable mesh back meant that the cap not only protected the wearer from the sun but it readily absorbed sweat too.
The practical cap worn by truckers and farmers soon became a staple of blue collar uniform and an iconic symbol of Americana.
Our take on this icon comes in two styles and are both done in the classic five panel trucker construction; wide foam front panel, four mesh back panels that provides ventilation, and the snap-fastening allowing you to adjust for the perfect fit.
The Civil War Calvary trucker hat boast a 11cm x 8,5cm large patch with gold embroidered crossed sabers motif and borders and two olive branches embroidered along its bill/brim. Finished with a gold cord band along its front, the Gold Leaves Trucker has the complete "Captain's Hat" treatment in a comfortable and easy to wear ball cap.
The gold embroidered crossed sabers is an old military insignia dating back to the US civil war where it was used by the Unionist cavalry. As it was a unionist symbol and since they fought for abolishment of slavery it resonated well with narrative of the 60’ies and 70’ies countercultures’ freedom ideals.

The counterculture was in full swing in the United States in the mid-1960s, but it hadn’t managed to penetrate the film industry. That all changed with the story of two freedom-loving bikers played by Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda.
