The BDU Shirt, which stands for Battle Dress Uniform, was used by the United States Military as the standard combat uniform from the 1980's till the early 2000's. It was the first camouflage (Woodland camo) uniform approved by the U.S. Army since the Vietnam War, where the ERDL camo pattern was in limited use. The BDU soon replaced all earlier camouflage pattern uniforms for all wooded, jungle, and tropical environments, and by 1989, had completely replaced the standard olive drab uniforms that had been used since 1952.
Our version of the BDU shirt sets out to accentiate the key distinguishing factors of the jacket while at the same time staying true to its original design and heritage;
- Enhanced size of chest and hip pockets
- Reinforced pocket flaps to render them stiffer and make them stand out more
- Action/bi-swing back to improve mobility
- Center back vent for increased ease of movement
- Elbow patch reinforcements on each arm
- Cuffed sleeves
- Buttoned waist adjustment tabs
- Half-lined with piped seams throughout gives it a sartorial feel
- 9oz 100% soft cotton twill shell fabric
